Applications are invited from candidates for admission to the ICGEB-JNU
Ph.D. Programme-2024 (monsoon session) in the following streams.
I. Human Health
(Structural Parasitology, Membrane Protein Biology, Parasite Cell
Biology, Cellular Immunology, Translational Bioinformatics, Yeast Biofuel,
Translational Health, Systems Biology for Biofuel, Vector-Borne Diseases,
Microbial Engineering, Immunobiology)
II. Plant Science
(Plant RNAi Biology, Plant Stress
Biology, Nutritional Improvement of Crops, Omics of Algae, Metabolic
Engineering)

Minimum qualification:
(A) First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any
branch of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics etc) or M.Tech or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc.
or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.
(B) Only “Category-I” NET candidates having a valid
fellowship through any one of the following examinations: CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT
(I), DST-INSPIRE, BINC, Lady Tata Memorial Trust or any other equivalent JRF
examination, or a fellowship from a private agency are eligible to apply (Copy
of the award letter needs to be attached). The fellowship must be valid for at
least four years. GATE , DBT(II) and Category II &
III of NET are not accepted.
It is mandatory to have minimum qualifications to
fill out the form for admission to the ICGEB-JNU PhD programme. Despite this
caution, in case you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria and still
appear in the written exam/ interview, you will do so at your own risk and
cost, and if at any stage, it is found that you do not fulfil the minimum
eligibility requirements, the admission, if granted to you, shall be cancelled.
Application procedure:
(A) Applications MUST be
filled out online (click the link at the bottom). One student is allowed to
fill out only one application form.
(B) Before filling up the form, make an online transfer
of Rs 1000/- in favour of “International

While making payment:

write down your UPI handle in the remarks.

your mobile number in the remarks
· For NEFT: write your name in the remarks section,
so that your payment is properly traced to your form.
(C) Scan a recent colour passport-size photo. The size of the photo should
be less than 2 MB.
(D) Scan the fellowship award letter. The size of the scanned
copy should be less than 1 MB.
(E) Scan the caste certificate, if any. The size of the
scanned copy should be less than 1 MB.
(F) Save the online receipt generated after the
successful online submission. This is your admit card. You must bring your
Admit card along with one identity proof (Preferably your Aadhar card)
to appear in the written exam and/or interview to be held on June 18th-20th,
2024
(G) The admit card will
be submitted at ICGEB. You may keep a copy of the admit card with you for
future reference.
(H) Forms can be submitted till May 30, 2024
